York Me Inns

I'm going to New York for the first TiiME this week? What can I do there?
1. I want to go to New York where the ball lands on the eve of Year New. What's that place called? What is the address to go there? Subway I take? 2. The Statue of Liberty. Subway I take? 3. China Town. Subway I take? 4. How much for a metro ticket? 5. I am looking for a reasonable hotel to stay as Days Inn. Do you know any that is near Days Inn of the city, but affordable? Do you have a hotel to recommend? 6. What else can I do in New York. I'm staying there for 2 days only with my wife.
Someone here has to take both remedial reading and remedial math – If someone is in New York for two days, why should pay for a subway for a week? You can not go to the Statue of Liberty more and only a few people be allowed to enter the pedestal. There are long queues for the boat to Liberty Island and, sometimes, you can leave whenever, because of the line-not to waste precious time waiting in line here. I suggest you take a ride on the ferry Staten Island, rather – is free and close enough to get a good look at the statue – you also get a great view of Manhattan skyline and be able to take some great photos. The bus costs $ 45 and there are long lines of people waiting to enter the next bus – with only two days here, I would not recommend. For $ 7 per day, you can get an unlimited subway / bus pass. New York has great public transportation system – buses and trains are everywhere and go through and often all night. Do not make things to eat in very limited time (lines at the Empire State Building can be hours). The price of hotels in New York are sky – Also does not leave much time to book a room. Try these, http://www.gershwinhotel.com/english/sit If you are willing to share a bathroom, test the Gershwin Hotel – very simple but very clean and cheap … Also, check out The Pod Hotel Chelsea Lodge http://thepodhotel.com/ And http://www.chelsealodge.com/ One thing you can do while you're here you can eat very well on a budget – New York has great restaurants – Avoid the tourist traps and be adventurous – to see if any of these appeal to you: If you like Spanish food (from Spain, not Mexico – it's a totally different cuisine), Costa del Sol on 50th Street and Ninth Avenue is wonderful – for $ 25, you get a full dinner with a ton of options – and it's good! You get a choice of soup or salad – (never order salad when no other option, so I can not comment). My favorite soup is the Caldo Gallego – from Galecio Spain – a delicious soup with bacon, sausage, white beans, cabbage and other vegetables, You may also order the cold gazpacho or a chicken noodle soup. You have a choice of over twenty entrees – at least six different shrimp dishes – My favorites are very lightly floured shrimp with wine sauce and garlic shrimp – huge portions. You can also order salmon, paella, lobster with butter sauce, various chicken dishes, mixed seafood, veal., pork chops. These come with saffron rice and green beans – large platters on the table for everyone. Also a dessert and coffee – the cheesecake is good, but you can have flan or rice pudding or ice cream. As if all this were not enough food for a business, if two of you for this three-course dinner, you can get a bottle of red or white wine for just $ 6 more ($ 3 each) http://members.aol.com/cdelsol/ …… Economic Italian restaurants: Near Union Square: Via Emilia on East 21st Street and Park Avenue. Appetizers are unusual and outstanding – fritto gnocco – big plate of cold cuts Italian, served with delicious little fritters; Tigelle (not used in too many places) hot biscuits with prosciutto and melted cheese, wonderful soups, good pastas, fish is always fresh. Some desserts are exceptional. Http: / / www.viaemilianyc.net / dinner.html …. In the West Village: Da Andrea on Hudson Street and West 11th Street. Pastas Excellent – I especially like the clam sauce, they, too, do Tigelle, can be very crowded on weekends. Http: / / www.biassanot.com/ In: The city of Sapore on Greenwich Avenue and Perry Street – Lunch here has to be the cheapest in New York – $ 6 for soup or salad, coffee and a main course, including good pasta – $ 3.00 more and you can have excellent fried calamari or grilled salmon as a main dish. This is a very small narrow restaurant, but in warm weather, there are plenty of pleasant outdoor seating. RUB (Righteous Urban Barbecue) in West 23rd Street in Chelsea … http://menupages.com/restaurantdetails.a Gray's Papaya – hot dogs good – $ 1 each $; 2.99 buy 2 hot dogs and a delicious fresh tropical fruit drink. There are a few places: in Greenwich Village at the corner of 8th Street and Sixth Avenue and the Upper West Side at the corner of 72 and Broadway, not far from Madison Square Garden, corner of 37th Street and Eighth Avenue. There are no seats, which come in counters facing the street so you can people watch. Open all night – cash only. Http: / / search.cityguide.aol.com / newyork / … If you go with someone, go to Katz's Deli on the Lower East Side – sandwiches are enormous – big enough to share (again, sit on the self-service section – the upper charged Delis to share.) Try a Cuban sandwich – roast pork, ham, cheese, pickles on pressed, toasted bread Cuba (Havana-Chelsea on Eighth Avenue and 20th Street makes a great Cuban – $ 4 for small one and $ 5 for the largest). Try the Vietnamese hero sandwich called my Bahn – Nicky Sandwich Shop in the East Village on East 2nd Street and Avenue A – $ 4 or $ 5. The East Village has so many ethnic restaurants really cheap – you can eat for $ 5 at one of the restaurants in the Philippines. You can buy a hamburger large for $ 5 at the Plaza de Burger at Le Parker Meridian Hotel on 57th near Sixth Avenue (small, full of self-service – all they have is burgers, fries, shakes). When you are in the East Village, get an order of fries (which is all they sell) at Pommes Frites on Second Avenue and 7th Street – you'll recognize it by the cone Paper giant external chips. These are really good – you can choose different toppings. Chinatown has many fine restaurants, most of them are very cheap. Buy a copy of TimeOut New York – get a full picture of what is happening in New York this week – what museums are showing what – what is happening This week in theater, sporting events, sales, and what is free – New York concerts have always free and low cost of doing things. Also, go through of the old questions here on Yahoo Answers – or look at unresolved questions of both travel from New York and New York dining – see what other posters have asked and answered — get some great ideas. Or do a search on Yahoo Answers – for example, enter "cheap hotels in New York." Have a great time and start planning their return journey!
