Inns Of Court
Which Inn of Court to join?
Any info on pros and cons of each Inn would be appreciated! I don’t know how to choose!
Just to clarify, I am talking about the four Inns of Court in London – Gray’s Inn, Lincoln’s Inn, Inner Temple and Middle Temple. Students who are planning on becoming barristers must select and join one of the four.
It makes practically no difference whatsoever. Three possible reasons to join a particular one:
a) your friends are joining one (that way you’ll have chums on any courses you go on)
b) your I-would-sell-my-soul-to-join-this-chambers seems to have a lot of people from a particular inn
c) you reckon you can qualify for a particular scholarship offered by a particular inn
But honestly, you will face virtually no discrimination or better/worse opportunities. They’re all good. So concentrate on scholarships and your quality of life. Don’t sweat this decision too much.
