"A Bloody Mary, please," I tell the stewardess and look in the direction of the plane, her eyes shining. I'm not a big fan of the drink on a plane, but after spending the last 4 days in Las Vegas, I played in a lot of things that would not normally do. I guess that is what is expected in a place affectionately called it 'Sin City'.

Thinking back to my contact in McCarran International Airport, I remember how nervous I was. Not the kind of nervousness that I sometimes feel waiting in the dentist's waiting room, but rather that "wake-on-Christmas morning 'nervousness. I grabbed my luggage and stood in a long line of business travelers and tried not to let my jealous feelings get the better of me.

After we collected the luggage pass the turnstiles, we headed outside and praised our first car in Las Vegas! We got into the cab and was taken on a ride of 20 minutes or less through the neon signs of the beautiful Las Vegas. I have always believed that things that make an unforgettable holiday are the people who they are and how you go there. I sold the idea that this taxi driver was either a comedian or a tour guide. Every single light in each building had only one story … and this man was not afraid of share.

We stayed at the hotel, and for once I was able to catch my breath and really take it all in. We had a room with a view, although this view is the air conditioning ducts, but to be in looking through a window standing was all I needed to just collect my thoughts. Las Vegas is a lot of things, but one thing is not its dull and boring. I was not able to do everything I wanted to do, but the things I did were dead-on precision than I expected it to be.

It seems like every hotel in Las Vegas that has lodged in a sort of playroom. Whether at the top of the line hotels like the Bellagio or the Wynn all the way to more small Inn on the other side of the strip, its all about the machines call, hoping the next contestant to deposit their money and pull your arm. In our hotel, which was no different. We had to pass the casino floor to get to all the places we wanted to go, a very clever marketing ploy. We found a seat at the bar and drink while listening to two guys trying to discuss the best way to play pocket 3 out of position at Texas Hold 'Em game.

I remember hearing a rumor that casinos pump oxygen into the room to avoid having people get tired. Also, there are no clocks anywhere. Not Sure whether it is a coincidence, but as tired as I was when we got off the plane, I was not in need of sleep. Everything moves at the speed of sound, and I was ready to experience the fast lane. The food was wonderful and the staff everywhere we went was welcome. Rejecting my objection, my wife and I managed to catch one of the thousands of programs that the good people in place in Vegas, Cirque de Sole.

I saw the fountains at Bellagio and saw one of the most amazing performances ever (yes, despite my objections, it is really worth going). I play and win, but nothing to make me quit my job and live the life of a player. I wish I took 17 years between my two visits, but as always, I was happy to be sleeping in my bed.
