Bed And Breakfast Washington Dc
good places to stay in Washington DC?
I, along with 2 other adults (possibly older depending on age) is the thought of planning a trip to Washington DC for a 4 night stay around the middle of August 2. The person we are visiting lives on 2nd Street North, East, near the capital. Is there a good hotel, motel, bed & breakfast, or basement apartments can be rented for a reasonable price, they are so close? If there is nothing in DC, Is there something that is good and reasonable both in Virginia and Maryland. Also does anyone know if it is actually cheaper to spend the night at the weeked for example, Friday night common or party the night the main evening week Mon-Thur night?
I totally agree with the poster above who said do not stay in DC – and I have no idea what was happening with the hotel where he stayed, but I would not be there, not because they are dangerous (but not) but because it is thoughtless. DC is fine. I have lived here for 25 years, walking alone at night can often (I am a smallish woman) and never had a problem. Poorer neighborhoods, where more more drugs and crime are far from where you are visiting and no worse than any metropolitan area in the world. Second Street Northeast is a very nice neighborhood, not far from Union Station. There are a number of nearby hotels, unfortunately, most of them are a bit expensive. If you go a few blocks away, the downtown Red Roof Inn in the Chinatown area of DC, you can find a very comfortable motel-style institution where they rent rooms for $ 120 and normally. This is a very safe neighborhood, near the theater, sports arena, and plenty of inexpensive restaurants. If you go further, Metro Center, is the Hotel Harrington, just a block from Pennsylvania Avenue. This is a budget hotel, popular with school groups, rooms usually start below $ 100 – also have two-room suite of sorts for not much more. It is basic but clean and comfortable, and just blocks from the White House and one block from the subway. Both are in neighborhoods insurance. For more recommendations, Pauline Frommer guides in Washington has great options for flats, etc.. I think staying in town is a great advantage – Allows one to have a weight off your feet or take a nap in the afternoon, allowing evening activities (like walking when the monuments are lit up – are open until 11 pm, or attend a show without at 6 pm at the Kennedy Center) and allows you to leave bags if do some shopping. The close in suburbs, especially some of Maryland but also in Virginia, there is no assurance that DC – DC, just as there are bad neighborhoods, but are difficult to break in. Hotel rates in August in Washington DC are no different much during the week or weekend. When Congress is in session that are lower in the weekend.
