During a period from the late 18th to the 20th century most of the world went through a period of time, in terms of architecture called Gothic. This revival was a renewed interest in architecture and style of buildings during the Middle Ages. Attention is focused on late-era castles were More than a manor of a fortress.

Belcourt Castle is a castle legitimate and The Breakers and ocher Court are mansions. These buildings are a testimony to the wealth generated by the production of early 20th century. Nearby Massachusetts also has its share and one of the most notable is the Herreshoff Castle in Marblehead. It was built in the 20th century and is in fashion after a castle built by the famous Viking Leif Erickson and is now a bed and breakfast. Also of note is in Massachusetts Hammond Castle, located in Gloucester. The inventor John Hammond built in the 20th century and is now a museum.
Measure we move away from New England and west across the country we find many more castles that were built near large industrial cities in which its builders generally their wealth. One of the most notable of these is Boldt Castle located on Heart Island in New York. The builder was the owner of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. Other castle point is one of Michigan called Curwood Castle. James Oliver Curwood was a very famous writer of adventure stories built. Gray Towers Castle was built by two brothers in the business of refining sugar and is located in a suburb of Philadelphia. It is a national historic landmark and is open to visitors and is a fairly large structure and magnificent. Henderson Castle located in Kalamazoo Michigan is another spectacular structure that is now a bed and breakfast.
As they travel across the continent, finally reached California, which was the mecca for money, power, and building castles. There are many structures that are still used today and notable of these is Castello di Amorosa, a working winery.
We end our look at some of the castles in the United States in one of the most famous, and more affluent. This is the Hearst Castle in San Simeon is California. It was built by media mogul William Randolph Hearst Communication and was the epitome of power and money of the early twentieth century politics and Hollywood. It is open to the public and is something we all enthusiasts of the Middle Ages should see.
When you think images of medieval castles of the mountain top structures in England and Germany come to mind but the U.S. has also built its share of these structures magnificent. There are literally hundreds, and many are still in use today as a bed and breakfast or museums. So if you want to see a medieval castle, but do not have the money to travel to Europe, there are probably some beautiful options right in their home state.
