Blue whales are the largest animals that have lived on the face of the earth "much bigger than the biggest dinosaurs. It weighed 180 tons, what is 20,000 pounds heavier than a DC-10. Blue whales are found throughout the world. The waters of southern California and Baja California in Mexico are home to perhaps 25% of world population. They are more common in this area in spring and summer to be a favored feeding site.

Blue whales can found in all oceans of the Earth, but experts still do not know where they breed and give birth. They are known to frequent feeding areas in the oceans polar tropical, temperate and cold and are suspected to give birth in warmer climates.

In 1800 there were hundreds of thousands of blue whales worldwide. Then, man developed weapons such as guns and harpoons an explosion proceeded to almost eliminate these wonderful animals in the twentieth century. Blue whales were hunted mercilessly for 40 years until they were almost extinct. The protection was initiated in 1966 and its population is slowly recovering, provided 6,000 to 8,000 blue whales left on worldwide today.
