Great Inns Of Ontario

Excluding Toronto and Niagara Falls, where is a romantic hotel/inn in Ontario?

I would like to take my girlfriend for a nice out-of-the-way overnight where there are not tons of people, but with a place to walk around in the evening and have a nice meal. I have tried lots of places and they are usually overpriced for what you get, especially the restaurants. I found some great places in the States but it’s too far to travel for one night. Does anyone have any suggestions???

The Ste. Anns Country Inn, which as absoloutly gorgeous! It’s a “Country Castle” Inn and it’s amazing. The people are very friendly and it’s in the country side next too rolling hills. Very romantic! It’s located in Grafton Ontario (about 70 minutes from Toronto). We stayed there for two nights, and it’s like being in the english country side. Can’t even imagine Toronto is only an hour away.

A package includes:
accommodation
dinner
breakfast
lunch
afternoon tea
$100 spa and/or fitness allowance
2 group fitness classes

Rates in the package are $425 – $525 a night and per person. A little pricey but it’s definatly worth it and im sure your girlfriend would appreciate it!

Another option for you and your girlfriend is the 1795 Acorn Inn, In Canandaigua, NY. It is in New York State, but it’s only about 3 hours from Toronto.

I’ve stayed at this place aswell, and it too is gorgeous. It’s in the Finger Lakes Reigion of New York, and it’s nestled beside the Finger Lakes Reigion Mountains. It’s only a short drive to Canandaigua which is a beautiful Americana town with musuems, victorian mansions, antiques, golfing, fishing, boating, wine, and my favourite the hot air balloon rides. The hot air balloon rides there are great.
Anyways, back to the B&B, it’s beautifully furnished with the most comfortable beds! It’s got trails through the woods to walk through, and there is a great park and marina filled with restaurants in the town. A standard room, which in my opinion is just like a suite, is about $180 USD per night. It’s AAA four diamond.

The 1975 Acorn Inn currently has a good package. Here is the description from there site:

“Sleep peacefully and awake refreshed for an early morning pickup. Assist FAA Certified Pilot Patrick Schmitt in setting up a majestic hot air balloon and you’re ready for your private flight. For approximately one hour during sunrise you will glide peacefully along Canandaigua Lake viewing nature like you’ve never seen her before. Don’t forget your camera as you will want to capture this special memory for a lifetime. Enjoy a glass of champagne and return to the 1795 Acorn Inn in time for a full gourmet breakfast at 9:00 am. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy wine tasting, antiquing, hiking or any of the areas many activities. Please visit Thunderhawk Aviation or call (877) 546-8247 to learn more about ballooning”.

That package is about $815.20 USD, for two people AND two nights accomodation.

I hope this helps! And were ever you go, enjoy tour trip!

Horseback riding. Ontario.
