The wines of New York State have been making a name for themselves for years and now rival the wines of California, Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. Cayuga Lake Wine Trail is the path to longer-lasting wines in the State of New York. With over fifteen wineries and sixty years restaurants, bed and breakfasts and tour companies, will have to spend the final week of wine, cuisine and scenic experience.

Cayuga Lake is one of the five-finger lakes located in the center of the state New York. Its climate is ideal for grapes. The wineries of the Cayuga Lake area are within 1 hour from Rochester and Syracuse, 2 hours from Buffalo, New York 4 hours, 6 hours from Boston and 2 ½ hour from Albany, the state capital. The wineries are located along the west and east sides of the lake mostly on the west side of the lake. Visitors also may experience Watkins Glen state park and to visit Cornell University, who are near the wineries. Picturesque and impressive waterfalls and other natural beauties along the lake to create a relaxing atmosphere while traveling along the wine route.

Cayuga Lake wine trail is a year's experience, and each season brings a different set of activities and experiences to enjoy as you sample wine and visit some old historic towns. Some of the wineries along of the track include the Montezuma Winery, the Swedish Hill Vineyard, the Cobblestone Farm Winery and Vineyard, the Knapp Winery, the Goose Watch Winery, the Buttonwood Grove Winery, the Cayuga Ridge Estate Winery, the thirst for wine Owl Company, the Hosmer Winery, the vineyard Seldrake point, the vineyards of Lucas, American Vineyard, Six Mile Creek Vineyard, King ferry Bodega Winery and Long Point.

You can find travel and transportation companies that include everything from executive limousine service for a party bus for any size group. You can find information on tourism or the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce Seneca County. Many of these companies tourism are located in towns near Cayuga Lake.

The wine country in the Cayuga Lake area offers events throughout the year, including everything from festivals to special dinners. Many wineries also have their own individual events ranging from wine tasting in the wine dinners. Almost every month there is an event Cayuga Wine Trail will be a festival, a touring or a celebration. The first event starts in February with the Mardi Gras, and ends in December with the annual Holiday Shopping Spree. A wine lover can buy a season pass to these Cayuga Wine Trail events and are transferable if you would like to treat a friend or family member.

Watkins Glen, just off the track Cayuga and Seneca Lake, just below the lake, hosts the biggest celebration of the wine region with over 75 wineries. The festival takes place each July and is a great place to experience not only the wines of Cayuga Lake, but the wines from the rest of the lake region of the fingers.

New York wines are quickly becoming the worlds most well know secret when it comes to wines outside of California. Their variety and quality of the matches more well known wine producing areas in the country, and the landscape of the Finger Lakes area is not complemented with other regions in the country.
